Erectile dysfunction medicines took in Glengormley

Large quantities of unlicensed medicines have been taken by of Health officials throughout a search of a home in Glengormley.

A male was talked to by department officers about illegally importing and subsequently providing unlicensed impotence medicines via the internet.

The 47-year-old was also questioned about other medicine offences.

He will now be the subject of a report to the general public Prosecution Service.

The search was performed by the department's Medicines Regulatory Group.

Its senior enforcement office, Peter Moore, said: "It is crucial that we get the message throughout that unlicensed medicines can be dangerous.

"These kinds of items being offered, generally online, have actually gone through no quality assurance and there can be no guarantee about their security.

"You merely do not understand what you are taking or the conditions these products were made in. More significantly, you do not know the impact drugs like this might have on your health."
